Over the Counter Medications During Pregnancy
Although it is best to take as little medication as possible during pregnancy, the following are generally considered safe while pregnant, but please call your provider with questions.
Over the counter medications during pregnancy can be a challenge when you do not know what to take, or if it will be a risk to your baby. Always consult your obstetrician if you have any concerns or if your symptoms are not improving. Please check out the following list of over the counter medications that are generally considered safe for you to take.

Symptoms and over the counter medications
Tylenol or Tylenol Extra Strength
Stuffy Nose, Headaches, Muscle Aches, No Fever
Benadryl, Saline Nasal Drops Tylenol (plain, NO DECONGESTANT), Neti Pot
Stuffy, Runny Nose
Chlor-trimeton, Benadryl, Claritin, Zyrtec (plain, NO DECONGESTANT) Neti Pot
Salt water gargle, Chloraseptic, Cepacol
NOTE: If you experience a fever greater than 100.4 with any of the above symptoms please call the office.
Mylanta, Tums, Pepcid, Nexium. It is important to avoid high fat/fried foods and large meals. Try not to eat a heavy meal right before bed, elevate head of bed.
Metamucil, Colace, Miralax, GasX, foods that contain high fiber
Immodium Clear liquids for 24 hours Call for appointment if it lasts > 24 hrs
Hydrocortisone Cream, Benadryl Cream
